A good win for MKRUFCMilton Keynes 23 Slough 8 Despite it being a horrible wet day Milton Keynes ground out another win in the league. Slough started the game Milton Keynes ran the ball back to them, lost possession and Slough moved up field. They were immediately awarded a penalty to take the early lead. It took 20 minutes to pull off the next score with Slough running out of defence the home side won back the ball thanks to Dan Pearson, this week playing at 13 due to several team changes. Pearson does not need asking twice to go for the line, which he duly did, running around the defence line and scoring. Full back Mike Deans took the conversion and Milton Keynes were on the score sheet. Two minutes later Milton Keynes were on the attack again. A blatant late tackle on second row Mike Lambert resulted in Mike Deans stepping up to increase the score to 10---3, with a great kick in the swirling wind. With the last play of the first half Fly Half Phil Powell kicked a great drop goal from way out, giving Milton Keynes a lead of 13---3 at the break. Milton Keynes kicked off the half, and Slough ran the ball back through their three quarters with the winger scoring in the corner. The conversion was missed but Slough had put themselves back in to the game and within 2 minutes of the second half were just 5 points behind the home side. The rest of the half was very even with both sides attacking well and the defence players doing their part. Through the half several injuries to the visitors held up the game and on 40 minutes the referee announced that there was 15 minutes of added time to play. The game really came to life with the home side trying to make the game safe, and the visitors only needing a converted try to take the lead, but with just 7 minutes remaining Milton Keynes made the game safe with a try from Mike Deans. The Milton Keynes forwards then took charge of the ball and worked their way to the line. The pack then charged the ball close to the line with Mike Lambert making the touchdown, although both conversions were missed, the game ended with a good win. Next week Amersham and Chiltern are the visitors to Field Lane in the quarter final of the Bucks Cup. Click here for more information on sport in Milton Keynes Milton Keynes Local News Home Page
