Welcome to MK Web, the community web site for Milton Keynes and North Bucks. The site is designed to bring together a wealth of information about the city and the surrounding area. MK Web is a community site, that means it is added to and updated by members of the local community. All contributions are welcome. It is easy to search for your area of interest and using the feedback form you can let us know if you have any difficulties and hopefully you'll also let us know what you like about it too. The site is constantly being expanded, so if you have knowledge in a particular area that is not featured and would like to add it then please use the feedback form to let us know. The News & Information area provides immediate access to the databases and other useful tools. Some of these are listed below: Contribute News and Events If you've got some interesting news or and event to report relevant to the local community MKWeb allows you to contribute it on-line using a simple form. Your story or event will be reviewed by our staff after which you will receive an e-mail confirming publication. The Forum You can air your views in the open forum on any issue. The forum is unmediated and postings are published immediately without intervention. So beware!, debates can sometimes get a little heated. Feel free to contribute and enter the debate. Local News News contributed by the people of Milton Keynes is displayed here. New news replaces old making the news page one of the most dynamic pages on the site. However all news is archived and remains on the site to form a valuable record of events which shape the growth of the new city. Sport Milton Keynes host's almost every sport you can imagine. There's information about how to get involved in over 20 major sports from Archery to Water sports. If you run a local sports club or involved in local sports and we missed you out just let us know and we'll add you to the list. Search MKWeb If you're looking for something in particular you can search the whole of MKWeb using this fast and accurate search engine. For convenience a simpler version is also available at the top of the home page. You may also find our FAQ page useful Directories The directories on the site are easy to use and contain a wealth of valuable information that is not always easy to find elsewhere. Most of the directory have a facility which allow you to add your own information on-line using simple forms and best of all it's free. Where ever possible information in the directories is linked to to the map to show it's location which make it much easier to find. Business Directory Provides you with contacts for around 8000 businesses in and around the area. You can find information about everything from local IT companies to a selection of good plumbers and decorators. If you own a business you can also add or amend your details on line. Network Diary The Network Diary is for people who want to know where the latest networking events are being held and when. Normally the events are in Milton Keynes but there are some events outside of MK. You can even add your own events. Pubs/Clubs or Restaurant Directory Here you will find a comprehensive listing of all the pubs, clubs and restaurants in the area, many with reviews. Restaurants can be searched by cuisine, name or location, pubs by ambience, location or name. You also have the opportunity to review your favourite pub or restaurant or,if you're the owner, to add or amend the details. Web Site Directory Lists local web sites and those which are relevant to the local area. These can be searched by category e.g. Retail, Education, Entertainment etc or by name. If you have a web site you can add it to the list using a simple on line form, it's the simplest way to increase the number of visitors to your site. Milton Keynes Map Finding your way around Milton Keynes is easy. The interactive map enables you to find anything in the city by simply typing in a post code, street name or by selecting a place. It will mark the location with a circle. By zooming out you can then plan a route through the city to your destination. We also have an aerial version of teh map so you can overlay one with the other. Our interactive Parking Map has helped many a weary traveller find that vital parking place Accommodation Guide Here you will find a complete listing of accommodation in and around the city. This includes everything from luxury hotels to B&B’s and farmhouses. Each is linked to the map, where possible, so it is easy to find. If you rent accommodation in the city there is a facility to add your details to the listing. We also have a listing of Conference and Wedding What's On guide This is a definitive guide to all that is happening in and around the city. It is easy to find an event as you can search by name, category e.g. workshops, or by an amount of time (within a week or month or year!). If you run a local entertainment business or are just having a car boot sale you can add them to the listing for free, there are hundreds of events listed so you can be sure that a lot of visitors will be looking at the guide. The Visitor Guide You don't have to be a visitor to enjoy the visitor guide, residents and visitors alike will find it an invaluable reference. Below is a list of just some of the information it contains: Places to Visit There are over 60 pages full of fun and exiting things to do in and around the city. It is divided into five categories, sporting fun, museums, stately homes, unusual buildings and outdoor fun so you are sure to find just the right activities for your visit. Shopping Milton Keynes boasts one of the largest shopping centres in Europe and a host of traditional shopping in the older parts that surround the new city. Each of the areas is described with words and picture to help you decide where you can get just the thing you need. Parks Here you will find information on all the city parks. There are a number of beautiful walks and cycle rides both within the city and in the surrounding countryside. MK Web can provide with a route and detailed maps. Travel This is designed to help you get to the city and to travel around easily once you are here. There is information on everything from where to park to the latest train, bus and coach timetables. You can also find details about Park and Ride and the latest Car Share Scheme Sport Milton Keynes hosts the National Hockey stadium, the National Badminton centre, professional Ice Hockey and Basket Ball teams as well as hundreds of local football teams, a go-karting centre, Cricket, a David Lloyd Tennis Centre and the largest indoor ski centre in Europe. Almost every sport you can think of is represented. You will find information listed about the different clubs and contact details on a very wide range of sports. Local Resources We've collected together all sorts of valuable information here for visitors and residents alike. For example there's details of local advice centres, where (and how) to get a job, information and news from Milton Keynes Council, emergency services, libraries, and much much more...
